It was a bright, peaceful morning when a car pulled over beside a quiet country road.

A man stepped out, carrying a tiny white puppy in his arms.

The little puppy wagged his tail happily, thinking they were going on another adventure together.

The man gently placed him on the grass.

For a brief moment, the puppy looked up with complete trust.

Then the car door closed.

The engine started.

And the car drove away.

The man never looked back.

Confused, the tiny puppy barked and ran after the car with all the strength his little legs could give.

He chased it as fast as he could.

His paws hurt.

until it disappeared beyond the road.

He wandered to the roadside, watching every passing vehicle.

Each time he heard an engine, his ears stood up.

His little tail wagged again.

“Maybe this time… he’s coming back.”

He would take a few hopeful steps forward.

Then another stranger would drive past.

As the afternoon faded into evening, the road became quieter.

The puppy slowly walked back to the very tree where he had been left.

He curled into a tiny ball beneath its shade.

His tail no longer wagged.

His eyes never left the empty road.

He was still waiting.
