Every morning, the little yellow-and-white dog forced himself onto trembling legs.
The streets were already busy.
People hurried to work, bicycles rolled past, and cars filled the road with noise.
Yet no one noticed the small dog struggling along the sidewalk.
On his left front leg hung a massive tumor.
It had grown so large that every step looked painfully difficult.
The weight pulled his body sideways.
His paw shook beneath him.
Each movement sent pain through his entire body.
Still…
He kept walking.
Perhaps he was searching for food.
Perhaps he was looking for someone who might finally care.
Or perhaps…
He simply didn’t want to give up.
The tumor grew larger with every passing week.
The little strength he still had slowly disappeared.
His breathing became heavier.
His body thinner.
His once-bright eyes were now filled only with exhaustion.
One afternoon, he tried to take another step.
Then another.
Suddenly, his injured leg collapsed beneath him.
His body hit the pavement.
He tried to stand again.
His front legs pushed against the concrete.
His muscles trembled violently.
For one brief second, he lifted himself.
Then he fell again.
And again.
People walked around him without stopping.

Some glanced down for only a moment.
Others pretended not to notice at all.
The little dog wasn’t asking for much.
Not food.
Not comfort.
Only one person willing to stop.
But no one did.
As evening arrived, the streets slowly became quieter.
The exhausted dog dragged himself toward a patch of bushes beside the road.
Every movement was painfully slow.
The heavy tumor scraped against the ground.
His body left faint marks in the dirt behind him.
Finally, he reached the shelter of the bushes.
There, hidden from the passing crowds, he curled himself into the smallest ball he could.
He wrapped his aching leg close to his chest.
His empty stomach growled softly.
His eyelids grew heavier.
He was no longer trying to find food.
He only wanted somewhere peaceful to lie down.
Darkness slowly covered the city.
Cold air replaced the heat of the afternoon.
The little dog shivered beneath the leaves.
Every so often, he lifted his head toward the road.
Whenever footsteps echoed nearby, hope flickered inside him.
Maybe…
Someone had come.
But every sound faded away.
Once again…
He was alone.
His head slowly rested back on the damp ground.
His breathing became slower.
His tired eyes stared into the darkness.
He didn’t know if he would still be alive when morning came.
Yet somewhere inside that weary heart…
Hope had not completely disappeared.
Because even after being forgotten by so many…
He still believed that kindness might arrive before it was too late.
Sometimes…
A life hangs on for one more night, not because the pain is bearable…
But because hope quietly whispers,
“Maybe tomorrow, someone will finally stop.”
