The storm arrived without warning.
Dark clouds swallowed the sky, and heavy rain began pouring over an abandoned construction site on the edge of town. Hidden beneath a broken sheet of metal, a yellow mother dog curled her body around her newborn puppies, trying desperately to shield them from the cold water rushing toward their tiny shelter.
