A Mother Waiting Alone in the Storm
The rain fell so heavily that night it blurred the headlights of every passing car.
Near the edge of a crowded roadside, beneath the cold storm and endless noise of traffic, a pregnant mother dog lay motionless against the wet pavement.
Her swollen belly was so large she could barely move anymore.
And one of her back legs appeared badly injured.
