The Tiny Puppy Who Arrived Broken
When a small injured puppy arrived at Pasadena Humane on March 9, staff members were left stunned by the condition he was in.
The tiny puppy, later named Peanut, had suffered devastating traumatic injuries after being found alone in Sierra Madre, California.
Most of his nose was gone.
His jaw had been dislocated.
And his fragile little body was trembling in pain and fear.
For many rescuers, it was one of those moments that instantly breaks your heart—the kind where you look at a puppy so small and innocent and wonder how he possibly survived something so horrific.
Yet somehow…
Peanut was still fighting.

A Face No Puppy Should Ever Have To Live With
Veterinarians rushed Peanut into emergency care the moment he arrived.
The damage to his face was severe.
Because so much tissue around his nose had been destroyed, doctors were unable to simply close the wound with stitches. Instead, the injury would need to slowly heal from the inside out over the course of many painful weeks.
To help the puppy breathe, the veterinary team carefully placed a stent inside his tiny nose to keep his airways open while his face healed.
Even eating and resting became difficult.
But despite everything his little body had endured, Peanut never gave up.
The Puppy Who Refused To Stop Being Happy
What shocked rescuers most was not just the severity of Peanut’s injuries…
It was his spirit.
Even while recovering from unimaginable trauma, the tiny puppy still wagged his tail every time staff members approached him.
He still got excited over soft toys.
He still leaned into affection and cuddles as if he trusted humans completely, despite the pain he had clearly suffered.
And perhaps most heartbreaking of all were his bright blue eyes—still full of life, curiosity, and hope.
Rescuers said Peanut continued behaving exactly like a normal playful puppy, refusing to let his injuries take away his joy.
A Long Road Still Ahead
Peanut’s healing journey is far from over.
Doctors continue monitoring his injuries closely while he slowly recovers under around-the-clock care. The road ahead will require patience, medical support, and time.
But the little puppy has already proven something extraordinary:
he is stronger than anyone imagined.
Every small tail wag.
Every playful moment.
Every tiny sign of trust reminds rescuers why saving animals like Peanut matters so deeply.

Thousands Rally Around the Brave Little Survivor
As Peanut’s heartbreaking story spread online, animal lovers across the country immediately rallied behind him.
Donations poured into Pasadena Humane’s Miracle Medical Fund to help cover not only Peanut’s treatment, but also future emergency cases involving severely injured animals in desperate need of care.
Within days, tens of thousands of dollars had already been raised.
People who had never met Peanut fell in love with the brave little puppy whose face may have been permanently changed—but whose spirit remained beautifully untouched.
More Than Just a Survivor
Peanut is no longer just the injured puppy who lost most of his nose.
To everyone following his journey, he has become a symbol of resilience, courage, and unconditional love.
Because even after enduring pain no puppy should ever experience…
he still greets the world with a wagging tail.
And somehow, that makes his story even more emotional.
