The skinny yellow dog had spent so many days hungry that he could no longer remember what it felt like to be full.
Every morning, he wandered through the city’s narrow alleys searching for anything he could eat. His fur was soaked from constant rain, his body was little more than skin and bones, and his stomach growled endlessly.
That evening, a cold storm swept through the streets.
The little dog moved from one overflowing trash bag to another, desperately sniffing for food. He pushed his nose into wet garbage, hoping to find even the smallest scrap.
But there was almost nothing.
For days, he had survived on leftovers and crumbs.
His body was growing weaker.
His legs trembled from exhaustion.
Yet he refused to stop searching.
Because giving up meant starving.
As he slowly approached a crowded marketplace, something caught his eye.
Lying near a food stall was a small sausage.
The dog froze.
For a moment, he couldn’t believe his luck.
A real piece of food.
Not spoiled garbage.
Not rotten leftovers.
Food.
His tired eyes suddenly brightened with hope.
Slowly, he approached.
His tail moved slightly.
Tonight, he thought, maybe he wouldn’t go to sleep hungry.
But before he could take a bite, a loud growl shattered the moment.
Out of nowhere, a much larger stray dog charged toward him.
The yellow dog immediately stepped back.
The larger dog lunged at the sausage and devoured it in seconds.
Then, as if that wasn’t enough, it turned on the smaller dog.
The attack was brutal.
The yellow dog yelped as sharp teeth sank into his shoulder.
He tried to run.
But he was too weak.

The larger dog chased him away, biting and snapping until the frightened animal finally escaped down a side street.
By the time he stopped running, blood was dripping from fresh wounds on his body.
His shoulder throbbed with pain.
One leg had begun to limp.
And his stomach remained empty.
Still, nobody noticed.
People walked past him.
Cars drove by.
The city continued moving as if he didn’t exist.
The wounded dog limped through the streets for hours.
Every step became harder.
Every breath felt heavier.
By nightfall, he reached a closed storefront.
The metal shutters were down.
The sidewalks were empty.
The yellow dog curled himself beside the door, hoping to rest.
But the cold quickly became unbearable.
His wet fur offered little protection against the wind.
His injured body shook uncontrollably.
Then the rain returned.
Heavy.
Relentless.
Within minutes, water flooded the sidewalk.
The exhausted dog tried to stand.
Tried to move.
But his body no longer obeyed him.
He was simply too weak.
The water rose around him as rain poured from the sky.
The yellow dog lowered his head onto the pavement.
His eyes slowly began to close.
Perhaps, for the first time, he believed this was the end.
No food.
No shelter.
No one to help.
Just darkness.
Then suddenly, a shadow appeared through the rain.
A woman holding an umbrella was walking home when she noticed something unusual lying beside the flooded sidewalk.
At first, she thought it was a pile of soaked blankets.
But then she saw movement.
The woman hurried closer.
What she found broke her heart.
A thin yellow dog lay trembling in the cold water.
His body was covered in bite wounds.
His ribs showed through his fur.
And his eyes were barely open.
Yet when he saw her, his tail moved weakly.
As if he still hoped someone might care.
Tears filled the woman’s eyes.
Without hesitation, she removed her coat and wrapped it around the trembling dog.
Then she gently lifted him into her arms.
For the first time in a very long time, the little dog felt warmth.
He felt safety.
He felt kindness.
Back at her home, the woman dried his fur, cleaned his wounds, and prepared a warm meal.
The dog ate slowly at first.
Then faster.
Then faster still.
It was the first proper meal he had eaten in days.
That night, he slept on a soft blanket instead of cold concrete.
And for the first time in months, he slept without fear.
The road to recovery wasn’t easy.
His wounds required treatment.
His body needed time to heal.
But every day, he grew stronger.
His appetite returned.
His limp disappeared.
The sadness in his eyes slowly faded.
Weeks later, the frightened stray had transformed into a happy, healthy dog.
His tail wagged constantly.
He followed the woman everywhere.
And every evening, he curled up beside her couch as if afraid to lose the person who had saved him.
The little yellow dog who once searched through garbage in the rain no longer worried about food or shelter.
He had found something far more valuable.
A family.
A home.
And someone who chose compassion when everyone else walked away.
