Brodick’s story is one that leaves a lasting ache in the heart. While being chased by other dogs, he tried to escape but slipped into a river, where he became trapped and helpless.
His body told the story of what he had endured. Bruises and painful swelling covered his neck, head, ears, and cheeks, while his injured left eye could barely close. The exhaustion and despair on his face were impossible to forget.

Around six in the morning, a kind stranger found Brodick and rushed him to an emergency veterinary clinic. Doctors discovered that herniated discs were causing severe pain and mobility problems, so treatment for his spinal condition began immediately.
Despite everything, Brodick remained gentle, intelligent, and incredibly understanding. Life had not been kind to him, but everyone hoped his suffering was finally coming to an end.

Slowly, his wounds and bite marks began to heal, and his skin improved. With the help of a support harness, he was able to move around, though he continued to lose weight. After adjustments were made to his wheelchair, Brodick could finally go outside again and enjoy the fresh air.

Sadly, his condition soon took a devastating turn. Tissue damage and necrosis began spreading, and he suffered severe seizures during the night. Treatment could no longer stop the progression.

Doctors then discovered a large tumor along his spine that had spread into the surrounding soft tissue. It was cancerous. Blood tests also showed that sepsis had begun, and even powerful pain medication could only give him relief for a few hours.
After days of careful consideration, the veterinarians made the most painful decision of all—to let Brodick rest, free from a body that had caused him so much suffering.

Run free now, sweet Brodick. May there be soft clouds beneath your paws, endless fields ahead, and never another moment of pain.
