One morning in Porto Velho, tire repair workers Ozimar and Lindomar Queiroz arrived at their shop and found a helpless dog abandoned by the roadside. He was extremely thin, his front legs were deformed, and he could barely move on his own.
Unable to simply leave him there, the two men gave him food, water, and a safe place to stay while hoping someone would eventually offer him a permanent home.
Because of the way he moved with his front paws stretched outward, they affectionately called him Foca, meaning “seal.” Despite his disability, Foca remained incredibly gentle. He would even drag himself through the mud just to spend time with a stray cat that wandered around the shop.
The workers cared for him for nearly three weeks. With regular meals, the once painfully thin dog slowly began gaining weight, though he still desperately needed veterinary attention.
