The Little Golden Dog Thrown From the Bridge

Sunny was a small dog with smooth, golden fur that shone brightly under the sunlight. His coat was soft, warm, and golden-blond, making him look like a little ray of sunshine walking through the world.

But Sunny was not as strong as he looked.

Both of his front legs were wrapped in casts. Every step was difficult. He could not run, could not jump, and could not play like other dogs. He could only move slowly, carefully, trying his best not to fall.

That afternoon, Sunny was walking across a bridge. The wind gently brushed through his golden fur, and his tiny body trembled with each step. His two casted front legs made it hard for him to keep balance, but he kept going.

He was quiet. He was harmless. He only wanted to cross the bridge.

Then, a woman walked toward him.

Sunny tried to move aside, but his injured legs were too slow. Before he could avoid her, his small body accidentally bumped into her leg.

He froze immediately.

Sunny looked up at the woman with frightened eyes. His ears dropped, and his little tail moved weakly, as if he was trying to say sorry. He had not meant to bother her. He was already hurt, already struggling, already doing his best just to walk.

But the woman became angry.

She shouted at him, and Sunny trembled. He stepped back, but his casted legs made him lose balance. His innocent eyes looked at her with fear, hoping she would understand that it had only been an accident.

But she showed no mercy.

In anger, the woman grabbed Sunny’s small body and threw him from the bridge down onto the road below.

Sunny cried out as he fell.

When his body hit the hard road, he lay curled up in pain. His beautiful golden fur was covered with dust. His two front legs in casts shook helplessly. A small stain appeared on his fur, and his breathing became weak and uneven.

Still, Sunny tried to get up.

He pushed himself with all the strength he had left. His body lifted for a moment, but his injured legs could not hold him. He collapsed back onto the road.

He tried again.

But he could not walk.

The pain, fear, and shock were too much for his tiny body. Sunny began to vomit on the ground, trembling as he lowered his head. His eyes filled with tears, and soft cries escaped from him.

He did not understand what he had done wrong.

He had only bumped into someone by accident. He had tried to apologize with his eyes, with his lowered ears, with his weak little tail. But instead of kindness, he received cruelty.

People nearby began to notice him lying on the road. Some stopped. Some covered their mouths in shock. There, beneath the bridge, was a small golden dog with two broken front legs, trying to survive after being thrown away like he meant nothing.

Sunny lifted his head weakly one last time.

He did not bark.

He did not growl.

He only looked at the world with tearful eyes, as if silently asking:

“I was already hurt… why did you hurt me even more?”
